(2019 c18) GKD, Glossy vs Matte Photo Paper with Alcohol Ink and Ken Oliver Liquid Metals
Lagene ♦ February 10, 2019 ♦ 9 Comments
I have 2 cards using the same products today. The difference is that the first card with the white card base was made with Glossy Photo Paper and the second card with the Kraft card base was made with Matte Photo Paper.
Matte Photo Paper card:
I stamped the poppy flowers from Stately Flowers 1 by Melanie Muenchinger found at GinaK Designs with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink (which works well with alcohol inks as well as watercolors). The photo on the right shows how I painted both backgound images with Lettuce and Valencia Ranger Alcohol Inks .
The next photo shows the different effects achieved when I loosely painted slightly watered down Metalic Mandarin Color Burst Liquid Metals by Ken Oliver over both glossy & matte papers, even across the painted images. The matte paper grabs and soaks in the Liquid Colorburst where the glossy paper lets it sit on the surface more and the result is a lighter wash look. As you can see the alcohol ink and Liquid Metals soaked in much more on the poppy on the right Matte Paper sample. For both cards I also stamped the Poppy on the inside of each card.

Both beautiful cards dear Lagene 🌹
I always love the look on glossy. Thanks for sharing the differences you found.
The choices of the background layer (with the matte and the black with glossy) were great choices. Love them both…beautifully colored and great backgrounds. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble again.
Great comparison of the two photo papers. But both look so great with the design you did.
This is a Beautiful card project! Isn’t it interesting to see how different products react on different surfaces. Love the flower too. Thank you for joining us in the Monthly Mix Challenge over at Gina K. Designs! ❤
Love both cards as the colouring on the flower is fabulous. Personally, I am partial to the black outlined design as I think it draws more attention to the flower because of the black outline in the flower itself. Thanks again for sharing with the Double Trouble challenge 🙂
Both are beautiful and very interesting to see how the products react on different mediums.
Both are quite beautiful and it’s cool to see the differences!
Such beautiful cards! They are both elegant and lovely. Thank you for explaining how you created them and thank you for joining us at Double Trouble.
