(2014 c 29) Journal cover – Our Daily Bread
Today’s project is the Journal back cover for my grandaughter in Tx that depicts the storms of life that come our way on any given day, week, month or year. Yet in spite of the way life buffets us like the winds of a storm, we can see glimmers of light that warm our souls by looking to God as His scripture says: Psalm 31:24 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.
Stampset found at Our Daily Bread Designs. To see the sunnier side of the Journal go to my previous post HERE.
For today’s project I used a stamp from Scripture Collection found at Our Daily Bread Designs in the upper left hand corner and heat embossed with gold EP after the scene was finished.
For the scene I painted a stormy scene with bits of sun peeking through the swirling clouds with acrylic paints.
For the bird and trees I used screens also called masks from Ditto made for Hampton Arts,( but it was from 2011 & I can’t find a link to buy any longer).
For the trees I laid the stencil onto the scene and “spackled” over it with Molding Paste/Golden Gel Mediums. For the bird I actually spread the Molding Paste on the bird mask & rubbed the mask to deposit the Molding Paste onto a royal blue piece of cardstock. I let them dry completely before gently applying Tim Holtz Distress Ink to the trees and actually painting the bird that was on the seperate piece of blue cardstock and then cut out with a boarder of the blue paper outlining the bird and glued it to the sky.
Final touch was to paint the “sheeting rain” with a fan brush with acrylic paints. I covered the cover with several coats of glossy Mod Podge Gloss (I bought mine at Michaels)
